Working in a specialist field, we often get asked many questions about nuclear shelters, however, here are some recently frequently asked questions:
How do you protect against a nuclear blast?
We use varying degrees of blast protection dependent upon the nuclear shelter and the client’s threat assessment. We use NBC (nuclear, biological, and chemical) components, such as a filtration system with both automatic and manual operation, within the shelter to protect not only in the event of a nuclear attack but also biological and chemical.
We exceed the Swiss Civil Defence regulations and standards to ensure all builds provide the utmost protection.
We also work with the world’s leading suppliers to ensure the ultimate level of protection and life preservation, including Andair, Roxtec, and Temet. We are also Andair’s sole UK distributor.
What happens in the event of loss of power?
We can arrange many different options for backup energy and emphasise resilience and fallback in our designs. We can also include solar power and wind energy systems to link to the nuclear shelter’s power.
What happens to waste?
We include a range of suitable waste treatment facilities, meeting or exceeding the UK standards of waste management. We can include several options, such as treatment, composting, or incineration. These methods can also be designed to use little to no energy requirements.
How do we make sure we have enough food or water in our shelter?
We are happy to sort this for you and provide you with options for food production and storage, and water purification and storage. We can also advise on the best packaged food and water to buy to store in your nuclear shelter. We can provide nuclear shelter essentials packs as part of the nuclear shelter build.
What else might we need to include in a nuclear shelter?
We have written articles on our website in relation to nuclear shelter essentials:
However, we would also be happy to provide a detailed list, or provide the products, to clients depending on their specific needs.
