Recent reports have detailed that Vladimir Putin is considering attacking the UK and NATO allies; a report found that a fleet of spy ships is currently mapping wind farms and communication cables in the North Sea.
Denmark, Norway, Sweden, and Finland broadcasters held a joint investigation which discovered that boats disguised as fishing trawlers and research vessels are gathering information in Nordic waters.
These vessels are allegedly gaining intelligence to sabotage the infrastructure of countries that are rivals against Putin.
Putin has frequently warned countries about intervening in their war against Ukraine; “To anyone who would consider interfering from outside: If you do, you will face consequences greater than any you have faced in history” he said in 2022 after launching the invasion of Ukraine.
This does not necessarily mean that conflict will happen, however, it is important to recognise the threat to the UK and NATO allies. If Russia were to attack a neighbouring NATO state, Russia would then be at war with all NATO members.
The below image shows the Russian vessel “Admiral Vladimirsky”’s movements in UK and Nordic waters, although the ship is officially a research vessel, the allegations are that the ship is a Russian spy ship.
