Analysis by MoneySuperMarket of over 2.5 million home insurance quotes between January 2017 and December 2018 has revealed that Henley-on-Arden in Warwickshire is the UK’s burglary claims hotspot

The survey also discovered that burglaries rose by 16% nationally in 2018 compared to 2017 and almost half of Britons have not implemented any measures to protect their home such as installing a burglar alarms or adding security gates.

The postcodes with the lowest rates of burglary claims are Whitehaven near Carlisle, Falmouth in Cornwall and Aberystwyth in mid-Wales. 98 postcodes have no recorded claims.

“In a recent blog post we outlined the importance of not becoming complacent when it comes to home security,” states Paul Weldon, managing director of The Panic Room Company.

“Thieves will certainly think twice about attempting to enter a property where the homeowner has taken security precautions such as having CCTV, a burglar alarm and window locks. You don’t need to spend a fortune either. Adding a new front and back door with multi-point locking to any home, for example, will deter burglars and give peace of mind.”
