The two structures are actually former missile silos built by the US Army Corps of Engineers. Larry Hall from Survival Condo purchased the silos back in 2008 and has transformed them into luxury apartments complete with 9ft thick concrete walls and full fibre optic intranet, plus a whole host of amenities including an indoor pool & spa, gym, library, cinema and a medical first aid centre.

The company claims that the compound provides “the highest level of military grade security that offers both lethal and non-lethal measures in order (to) protect our residents.”

With prices starting at $1.5m (£1.2m), the first set of units sold out before construction was completed in 2012. The second silo is due for completion later this year so there may still be time to get your hands on one if you’re quick…
