Over the last couple of years, we have designed, manufactured and installed a number of nuclear shelters for clients across the world. By their very nature, nuclear shelters were specifically invented to provide the ultimate in Nuclear, Biological and Chemical (NBC) protection and security in the event of a nuclear or biological weapons attack. So, it’s unsurprising that we’ve seen an increase in enquiries for such shelters since the coronavirus pandemic hit.

“In response to global political instability and volatility, we made the decision to include nuclear shelters in our portfolio several years ago,” states Paul Weldon, managing director of The Panic Room Company.

Outlines Paul: ““Our specialist, bespoke solution to provide residential nuclear shelters came, in part, from several of our clients’ requests to deliver guaranteed NBC protection within their own homes for themselves and their family. There was a clear demand, but little did we know that demand would escalate in the spring of 2020 as COVID-19 began to take hold.

“Using our decades of experience creating unrivalled panic and safe rooms for clients, we utilise the very highest quality components in our nuclear and biological shelters which is why we only work with the very best global suppliers, those who can complement our own technologies and knowledge.

“Working with the world’s leading suppliers such as Andair, Roxtec and Temet, we can design, specify and build nuclear and biological shelters based on individual needs and wants. Such shelters offer the ultimate level of protection and life preservation in the event of a pandemic, as we are experiencing with coronavirus, or biological or nuclear attack.

Continues Paul: “Andair, for example, is a specialist in NBC (Nuclear, Biological, Chemical) filtration and blast protection for shelter technology with over 40 years’ experience. Over 3,000 large protected installations in more than 55 countries are equipped with Andair components and that’s what counts in these uncertain terms – clients need to be certain that their shelter’s air and filtration system is the very best available.

“Utilising Andair’s range of products ensures that every shelter we deliver, irrespective of size or location, is correctly ventilated and protected.”

Concludes Paul: “The coronavirus pandemic is showing us just how vulnerable we are and, if experts are to be believed, other similar viruses are set to wreak further havoc and destruction in the future. Nuclear and biological shelters could become ‘the norm’ for many of us in the coming years.”
