A post-war nuclear bunker near Buxton, Peak District, has been sold for £36,000 with 61 bidders. There are only around 20-30 similar bunkers available for sale in Britain. The space is large enough to occupy 3 people with enough provisions for 2 weeks. The bunker also came with some furnishings and a chemical toilet.

SDL Property Auctions confirmed that approximately 30 to 40 people attended viewings of the bunker. Jim Demitriou, from SDL Property Auctions, said to the BBC: “It used to be very unusual until we started selling them about 18 months ago and this is my third one now, so people are seeking me out to sell their nuclear bunkers.”
This growing interest to buy existing nuclear bunkers aligns with the recent demand we have seen for custom-built nuclear shelters at The Panic Room Company. We have seen an increase in enquiries and orders for bespoke nuclear shelters to be incorporated into clients’ homes and new builds.
If you are interested in including a nuclear shelter in your existing home or commercial property, or incorporating one into a new build property, please do not hesitate to contact us.
